Today again I got reminders from the Cosmos to be in the I AM. My right side breathing had reduced with the change in practice of being aware of awareness by being aware of the framework within which the sensation of the body happens, the bed of awareness on which the sounds fall or the visuals falls.
I will continue to do both now. Even be aware of the impulse that is getting these words typed. Return to that breath as an anchor yet remember to be aware of my Existence breathing in the energy from the air and surrendering as I exhale depositing the material all around the body.
One of the helpful reminders I did get today was a quote from Maharaj
"Tirelessly I draw your attention to the one inconvertible factor - that of being. Being needs no proofs - it proves itself. If only you go deep into the fact of being and discover the vastness and the glory, to which " I AM " is the door and cross the door and go beyond, your life will be full of hapiness and light. Believe me, the effort needed is nothing when compared with the discoveries arrived at.

Chronicles of Saturn in the First House 7
Today was an interesting day because suddenly during the day I could get a sense that Awareness is the screen on which everything is projected. The things I see, the words I speak or hear, the thoughts, feelings...all these have a bed on which they rest. So I need to be constantly aware of that "on which all this rests". I did have an amazing experience listening to someone speak as the words fell on the bed..and my own thoughts on the bed ..and I also for a flash felt as it it was a common bed..the bed from where his words emerged and where it fell on my ears and my resultant thoughts.
Of couse during the day I was quickly brought back to my senses because of a crisis and I immediately saw how identified I was and how deep the identifications are rooted.
But then Nisargadatta Maharaj said that there will be frustrations and suffering but I need to persist - but now I have a new thing to keep an attention on the bed on which everything falls and from where everything rises.

Chronicles of Saturn in the First House - 6
The 6th chronicle is beng written and Saturn has not yet arrived in the first house ! Must be house keeping.
Meanwhile here's the practice that I seem to be clinging to desperately.
I AM practice. To sense I am.
I have got so much help from Mooji and then today heard an amazing Sohra channelling that further assisted me. The broad fundas of the practice is as under :
1. I sense I AM in the Heart.
2. THe idea is the I am Pure Awareness. But I cannot experience it.
3. Nisargadatta and Mooji both say that if I abide in the I AM over a period I will be free of the lowerI where I am stuck and be free from the lower I.
4. I need to be persistent.
5. Sohra/William Bagley said that observing and witnessing that it is the lower I that is worrying, angry, insecure will free us of the I. When we identify with it, we give it the strenght of our consciousness - but when we stop doing that it will fall away. (This is so Amazing) SO I NEED TO CONSTANTLY ASK - WHO IS GETTING ANGRY? WHY IS WORRIED etc etc. Just like Ramana exhorts.
6. Sohra also gave me an amazing HELP in my I AM breathing. That with Inhalation I take in the energy in the atmosphere and with Exhalation I give in to more and more surrender - this is such a powerful and helpful guide. I can exhale and also deposit all the energy all around the body and also get a sensation of the body as I surrender and relax.
Thank you Saturn for these teaching are coming from Saturn to anhillate my identity.

Chronicles of Saturn in First House - 5
A fundemental shift yesterday after going through another dark phase. Searched for I AM practice on You Tube for some unknown reason and found this by Mooji which was exactly what I needed.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QHfuQRvNyiA
Mysterious are the ways of the universe - it is as if it guides and helps.
I am so scared of death that I am literally clinging to the I AM which is immortal.
The shift is really that now my practice is about "Resting my mind in the I AM . Staying in I AM as much as possible. Mooi says resting your attention all the time in the TIME IN THE I AM
He also says it is the Original feeling of one's Existence.
I also read Nisargdatta who of course says the same thing. He also said that life operates in its own order. The body is "a" body for him. The practice for I AM is staying with the I AM and each time one experiences something - asking WHO is experiencing this? THen also being PERSISTENT.
This way there will be a gradual separation between the fake I and the true I
Very heartening to hear Mooji say - If one inquires hard one finds that there is really no :I. We are the supreme reality and why then get afraid of an illusory belief that I am this body and everything will end in death. Nisargadatta says I am already dead.
I also feel that this impulse of staying with I AM is also willed by Saturn and with its blessings and guidance only can I remain in I AM . Otherwise the forces of sleep are so strong. I need to constantly remind myself that I am dying so I can return to I AM.

Chronicles of Saturn in First House - 4
The underlying fear of death is more real than ever before. I therefore cling to life. To breathe in I AM. I try to sense what is it TO BE ALIVE. What is born will die so I have to go and live the REAL LIFE. I dont know how to get there but Nisargadatta Maharaj says Be Tenacious and Persistent. Stay in the I AM.

Chronicles of Saturn in First House - 3
There is clearly a sense of sluggishness and lack of energy. Passivity pervades yet if one gets up for action it is possible to push against the passivity. Mentally however there is a black shadow and a huge weight. I prefer speaking less. However I can sense lot of sensation inside my head as though this period is good for inner watch. Meanwhile some more info
With any transit
involving Sagittarius, it is essential that we be honest – in our actions and
about what we are feeling. If one senses the pressures and demands of higher
performance, be honest about what you feel and express this to those around you.
Saturn in Sagittarius
is like a breath of fresh air since it rules more abstract values such as
codes, ethics, quality control, upgrading standards, credentialing and
standards of Truth.
Those with vision, those who can see the Big Picture, those who can upgrade and maintain high standards, will do very well in this cycle.
Those with vision, those who can see the Big Picture, those who can upgrade and maintain high standards, will do very well in this cycle.
Saturn
transiting the first house begins with a Saturn conjunction to the
Ascendant, a transit of personal significance. The first house is a fire house,
a house that rules our personal identity. We concern ourselves with how we come
across to others on a personal level with Saturn here. Our physical body
becomes a focus as well. Depending on the age of the native, it may be a time
when we feel our age, or it is a time when we see our bodies quite clearly.
This is an excellent time for beginning health regimens, diets, and the like,
simply because it is a time when we look in the mirror and see ourselves
clearly—not what we want to see. Our outlook on life
changes to a more serious, responsible tone. In the beginning stages of the
transit, you may feel frustrated with yourself, let down, and lacking in
self-confidence. You might reach out to others in an attempt to validate
yourself, looking for ways to boost your confidence. When these attempts fail,
you may feel temporarily let down and discouraged. Rest assured that Saturn
will re-work these feelings, with your help of course, until you reach a point
(as Saturn moves through the house) where you have a stronger sense of self.
This transit acts to transform your self-confidence in such a way that you
question the source of your confidence to date, and discover a more solid base
for pulling up inner strength. Saturn here acts to rip
away the superficial. Illusions about the self, the body, and personal
abilities will no longer be tolerated. The end result is a newfound identity
and a realistic understanding of the self. In terms of career and projects,
outward signs of progress may not be as forthcoming, yet the work that you do
during this transit will lay a foundation for future success and progress! For
example, some years ago, a client began a hobby/project during a Saturn transit
to her first house, something that took up a lot of her time and energy and
that yielded nothing in terms of immediate financial gain—until later! In fact, this “hobby” turned into her
career in the years to follow.

Chronicles of Saturn in First house - 2
We are towards the end of November and a few weeks before Saturn transits House 1. Already the first experiencing that I have had is an irrational fear of death and disease. It was truly real and only today there was some respite.
It seems like an end gift of the 12th house and a peek of what could be expected.
Saturn House 1 is expressed in the following words
(a) We must be willing to get rid of the life we have planned so as to have the life that is waiting for us.
(b) First house Saturn apparently is all about restructuring the identity. It becomes very important to evaluate where we spend our energy –to end superfluous obligations, to other people, and to myself. It is said that because we are rebuilding the very identity, we have less energy to spare during Saturn’s transit – and any commitments that stand in our way of doing this intense self-exploration may get sacked because it stands in the way of the time we need to spend working on our self
So let me see what happens as the days go by and ill try and do a regular record.
Chronicles of Saturn in First house - 1
This is the continuation of the record of my Saturn Transit. My 12th house transit is getting over and this transit has taught me "Faith" as against "Doing". Earlier I used to find meaning in Doing. But in this transit when I "did" nothing happened. But when I "wished" things came to me. Miracles at each corner.
So before the transit begins I thought I would cover some preparatory homework . So here's the first copy-paste from (http://www.moonkissd.com/2013/02/24/saturn-transits-the-first-house-the-life-waiting-for-you/#comment-33151)

With Saturn now moving retrograde, I figured I’d check in on how I’m faring with Saturn. Saturn has been transiting my first house since September 2011. I had been looking forward to Saturn leaving my twelfth house like I looked forward to being released from an obligation I had no interest in keeping; in my twelfth, Saturn had taught me to quiet down, stop working so hard, to chill out. Dialing back and losing focus in the diffuse awareness of the twelfth house does not and did not feel natural to me. With a score of like 65 on Donna Cunningham’s Cardinal-o-meter, I flip flopped like a fish out of water. Not until Saturn entered the twelfth house did I realize how much my identity was fused with doing instead of be-ing. The week of Saturn transiting the first, initially felt like a release from bondage. That week, I reconnected with parts of my self I thought I’d lost by attending a high school reunion, and taking an art class with a master artist. In a very real sense, this was the beginning of the rediscovery of the self. But after the initial homecoming, I had to let go of that nostalgic self-reunion. There’s a Joseph Campbell quote that speaks directly to what takes place during the shift from Saturn from the twelfth into the first house(s), “We must be willing to get rid of the life we have planned so as to have the life that is waiting for us.”
Keeping Up Appearances
As Saturn crosses the threshold, we are called to break with old masks – with ways of seeing our self, being in the world, showing our self and our face to the world. Yet who am I today? This is the question… and first house Saturn is all about restructuring the identity. Early on, something I had read helped me understand the consolidation of energy I began experiencing. It became very important to me to evaluate where I was spending my energy –to end superfluous obligations, to other people, and to myself. Why was I pushing hard to be social, or work on projects that felt like a mountain of work, when I was tired, so tired? I’m already an introvert and need time to recoup energy but this was ridiculous. Both Rob Hand and Erin Sullivan say because we are rebuilding the very identity, we have less energy to spare during Saturn’s transit – and any commitments that stand in our way of doing this intense self-exploration may get sacked because it stands in the way of the time we need to spend working on our self. This is the motive behind why people may experience “fails” during this time. So if you get sacked, or your work doesn’t get published, consider it a blessing: you are in the process of rediscovering the Self that will seed a whole new 28 year cycle. You don’t want to be wasting precious time on a hamster wheel.
Rediscovering The Self
Because of this need to restructure the identity, which entails less commitment to worldly demands, more seclusion and inner work, Saturn here can put a damper on being seen and getting noticed. This is happening because there’s a new identity re-forming. Like the pieces of a lego creation, the process of self-rebuilding is necessarily slow, careful and must be made without haste. The feeling is that every piece (friendship, career choice, obligation, cause, hobby) you decide to take on will be with you for a long while, and to not be premature. I’ve been tempted many times to define myself — to run headlong in exciting directions that, upon reflection only a mere few weeks later, I just knew wouldn’t have made me happy. It took a few experiences like this, me anticipating I had found “the answer!” only to have it dissolve, and realize I’m a work in progress and if my newfangled career mash up ideas don’t get past the starting line, it’s probably for the best. As a result of admitting I truly don’t know where I’m headed yet, I’ve learned to remain wide open to possibility, and to explore things that come along with fresh eyes, which feels very courageous and first house, while also remaining extremely discerning and realistic, which feels very Saturn. This is a safety against running headlong into brick walls down the road, for as Erin says, “Often it remains unclear who we are while Saturn remains in the first house.” -And- “…seizing the first apparently solid opportunity to present itself is not always the best; all such opportunities need to be examined for their durability and longevity.” In short: if you can’t envision enjoying doing this for at least the next 14 years, scrap it. Or as Rob Hand, a very practical man, says of Saturn transiting the first house, “Don’t be in a hurry.”
Yet, it’s not about sitting around doing nothing. It’s a busy time. Putting the pieces together takes time, effort and often Saturn transiting the first yields new choices & direction. In my experience, however, these choices must obey another Joseph Campbell dictum, to always: “follow your heart” then given plenty of lassitude. I’ve read about people taking up hobbies now that turn into careers – later. I’ve experienced the budding of a new profession, and though I don’t know what form it will take yet, it’s been important work for me to listen to what my heart says about it every step of the way.
In Corpore (Latin, meaning In The Body)
“For the duration of Saturn’s transit through the first house, one must find creative antidotes for spiritual starvation. Nourishment for the body and soul is a difficult menu to find ready prepared.” – Erin Sullivan, Saturn in Transit
Being in the body has never been easy for me, and in all honesty it has gotten harder and improved with Saturn here. During this time I’ve had a disease return that I though I’d been finished with (on the exact weekend Saturn quincunx’d my sixth house Aries Mars). This is the harder. Chronic pain has severely limited my ability to write, create and do things I want to do. Creativity had been such a strong source of spiritual nourishment for me, albeit (and I am loathe to admit this) at the cost of other forms of sustenance. This is the lesson. As Saturn has thrown the circuit breaker on thecreative-spiritual and put much (often ALL) of my attention on being in the material body, I have had no choice but to submit to the lessons of the Taskmaster. Inasmuchas my work is cut out for me with Saturn here, I am beginning to reap some rewards from it. I found traditional cooking (Sally Fallon, Nourishing Traditions) or it found me -and when I did I experienced the major epiphany that I’d never actually felt deeply nourished by my food. Saturn rules traditions. My diet, has long been far healthier and conscious than the typical American diet, but also had a lot of restrictions that left me feeling hungry, and malnourished on deep levels (natal Saturn conjunct Sun, South Node in Cancer). When I began eating a very nutrient dense diet, a diet like our ancestors ate. As a result of eating like my ancestors ate hundreds of years ago, I started feeling far more substantially nourished as a person. Of course I’m also cooking like they did, too, which means I’ll start my day cutting vegetables for a stew, or canning pickles or making crème fraiche. Time consuming? Yes. But also connecting to my body, the earth, and my spirit in a whole new way. As Erin says, “While Saturn remains in the first house we renegotiate our earthly contract.”
I’ve noticed people who have Saturn in the first, natally, often have physical limitations – thyroid disease, bone disease, juvenile diabetes to name a few – restricting one’s confidence, ease of movement, and the opportunities one can pursue. Why is Saturn in the first so hard on the health? Is it because of the quincunx relation of the first house to the Sixth? A quincunx is an aspect of adjustment, and letting go and eliminating health-inhibiting behaviors does involve the quincunxy idea that no one wants to do: “let go, release into change.” Speaking of letting go, I haven’t lost weight, thank Goddess, as I didn’t need to, but for some this is a true benefit of this transit. Due to depression or the self-discipline and self-denial it bestows on the character, Saturn can lean people down during its ASC and first house transit – witness Angelina Jolie’s Skeletor-like appearance while Saturn in Cancer crossed her ASC, a skeletal reputation which she has never entirely lived down.

Saturn rules thresholds & doorways.

On Aligning with Life that is Eternal
The fear of death can only be allayed by a connection with that
which is immortal. It has been the insight of many sages that we are immortal
and it is due to ignorance that we believe that we are the body and all ends
with death. This fear of death, combined with a sense of futility of life’s
purpose gives a powerful force to find out that which is beyond death and live
that existence rather than the existence linked to mortality. How does one find
that ? For me a starting point could be to return again and again to the life
throbbing inside me. This life or attention seems to be a first connection with
that which incarnated into this body and so if I could live more and more in
this connection maybe it could be the boat that could take one across the river
from this bank that is attached and identified with mortality. This connection
could also be assisted by returning to the breath – especially the sensation of
the breath.
To understand this life that incarnates life after life is a
magical adventure. Let me start right away.
Saturn - insights towards the end of first phase of 2.5 years
On January 26th I would have finished the first
cycle of 2.5 years of Saturn. If I look back it has been the most spiritualised
period of my life. I think preparing and reading about Saturn – especially to
align with Saturn and “be” Saturn got me into a helpful inner attitude of
receptivity. Further situations around me caused me to do things that I
normally would be lazy and passive to do. Allowing my self to do it in this
Saturn period, got me a slight freedom from likes and dislikes. I think that
possibly could be the gift of Saturn. I need to remember this – freedom the
likes and dislikes. I also saw that while one part of my life experienced
delays – there was another part that made small wishes come true. I had to
wish, try and make effort and then forget about it. Then by some magic it would
just happen. Sometimes even if the impulse of action kept pushing and I held
back, the magic worked. I also feel receptivity also means open to receiving
things and help from people – as if God is giving them to you through them.
Earlier I would refuse favours (for no reason – maybe social conditioning,
maybe false pride)
It was also in this
period that I managed to get my first bit of regular financial income – however
modest. Even this happened by an amazing miracle. This means also that Saturn
does not block your money - and trouble
you. Saturn in 12th house is about
transformation (12th house being the house of death) and I think what
I learn from here will now be polished and fine tuned when it moves to the 1st
house. Even now with a few weeks left, I think its impact I can begin to feel.
There seems to be a sense of death and sense of wanting to find meaning in life
and the direction of that finding of meaning – all of which could be the individuality
aspects of the first house.

Meaning of life
Today once again woke up in the morning with the question of the meaning of life and it's pointless ness if its going to end in death.
But today was a shift in the sense that I remembered about the Buddha story and could get a sense of his similar despair when he saw the cycle of life. And that after that he set out to find the meaning of life and not cave in with the crushing weight of what he saw.
I need to take a leaf from that and approach life similarly. To find the true meaning of life beyond the mortal. And it has to be through life work efforts of day to day struggling.

On nursing suffering
So the last few days have been this feeling of pain in the heart. One of those things that have no reason to cause it. Usually when it has appeared in the past it has maybe lasted for a few hours at best and then the being changes. This time it is longer. Been 5 days and it starts as soon as I get up in the morning and ends somewhere in the evening as I leave for home from work.
I know my responsibility is to stay and thank fully other than few moments I feel aligned to it like a duty to share some Cosmic sorrow. The few weak moments I am identified with it but thankfully so far no self pity.
The pain is sapping. I miss my natural optimism and upbeatedness. It has taken away my sense of purpose as well as the energy that starts initiatives. It is very precious for me that energy and I feel it has got me to wherever I am.
Whenever there are moments of relief I go with my breath as a tongue to look for sadness in the corners of my heart and I find traces.
I wonder if I my pain is part of an overall planetary situation (like it has been in the past) or something chemical in my head.
Tomorrow is another day.

Ego mental suffering is the hardest to transform.
Life situations never fail to place a mirror on ones inner material. I feel when I have the wherewithal (inner) to transform material I am surprised how little I know. I am placed in a situation where I can help a person. Yet at that point there is nothing I can do . That helpless is a suffering that has no emotional material to transform. It is a mental suffering of the ego that has power and energy to work but has no outside material to take the action forward. SO I am asked money. I dont have money and I am feeling terrible. That I dont have money . Think about all people who are happy because they have the money. TO make their dreams come true. And I dont have the gloating rights to give someone money when they need it . Oh the flourish of it. Of giving money.
Body doesnt help. It is hard to sense the body without an emotional flow.
I immersed in activity. Humble. Donkey work. And i hid suffering quietly.
THen later relief came. From outside events.
maybe that was the aligned action.
Body doesnt help. It is hard to sense the body without an emotional flow.

Welcome back to me
I am here again. Back here whenever I am in a moment of life that is self anhillating. Right now (and for the last 8 days) in the Shiva place. A place between stools. A place of the unknown. Between the end of the night and beginning of the dawn. Between the inbreath and outbreath. Place of death. No breath. I think this is a rich space as I wait and all the energies inside in such turmoil. I wait for the 3rd force..the new arrival..the new birth. I have to have the strength to stay still even as things collapse around me. Shiva I am here as your minuscule part.

From Kaushitaki Upanishad - Order of senses
Prâna (breath) is Brahman, thus says Paiṅgya.
And in that prâna, which is Brahman, the eye stands firm behind speech,
the ear stands firm behind the eye,
the mind stands firm behind the ear,
and the spirit stands firm behind the mind
It is fantastic how the order of the gradation of the energy is by the shape of the face.
The Mouth is right ahead and therefore speech is the most gross/least conscious
After that is Sight. The eye situated behind speech.
Then the Ear. So conscious Listening is a key practice.
Then the Mind that is behind even listening. So it can watch everyone.
Then the Spirit who can watch even the Mind.

Its so simple and right in front of our eyes !

Its up to me
Its been a while since I have written.
We moved home to our own small place. Actually its wife's pied a terre gifted by he mum.
But it changed things significantly. We dont need to pay rent. Luckily wife's salary now supports us. Its a big grace that we get help from such unexpected sources.
My financial struggle has meanwhile not ended. I havent earned a singly penny and now it must be 4 years. Its stunning how with all the work experience and 2 prized professional degrees I have not managed to earn money yet.
Yet I am not in despair. I know this is a new start and all this suffering is payment for what is to come. I give my 100% to my work and I often ask god what is his plan? Even ask if I need to atone for something and to let me know how.
Its a gift to get such a life. No transformation in my life would have been possible without this shock that I am still going through. I am grateful because not everyone gets chosen. I only pray that I dont take short cuts and stay on course to fully justify all the efforts taken by the forces to get me here. Now its up to me.

I only pray that I dont take short cuts and stay on course to fully justify all the efforts taken by the forces to get me here. Now its up to me.

Psychology of Jupiter function
PART THREE
The Jupiter Function
The Jupiter Function
The capacity for intense, significant, integrating and "noble" relationships, able to stimulate the imagination and to give psychological-mental birth to great symbols or meaningful dreams-visions, is basically represented in astrology by Jupiter in its higher aspects. Jupiter is "basic" in the imagination-process (though evidently not the only planet to consider) because it represents the feeling for human relatedness. Jupiter in man is, at the psychological level, the realization that every person contains latent potentialitieswhich cannot be expressed by merely projecting one's own muscular-sexual body-power (the latter being symbolized by the planet Mars). Jupiter tells us — symbolically speaking — that there is an inner world whose energies can only be aroused by real human relationship based on deep and intense sharing. A sharing of what? A sharing of our differences.
The woman needs to share with the man what he is in outer being — which is also what she potentially is in her inner. being. What is latent in the woman can only be aroused and made conscious through a kind of catalytic actionexercised — by the man's outer nature — which includes also his logical intellectual mind. This, however, is something different from the instinctual desire of the woman's sexual nature for the man's male power; such a desire brings together what is exterior and physically operating in the male and the female; astrologically, it refers to the Mars and Venus duality. It deals with the outer life of the human species, with the procreative function and (at a social level) with the purely physical manifestations of productivity — i.e. the production of food, of wares, of all the necessities for mere physical existence.
The other kind of relationship between the woman and the man operates in her inner psychic world — the outer conscious activity of the man affecting the inner psychic development of her latent unconscious masculinity. It is characterized typically by the relationship of the daughter to her father — or of the boy to his mother. I repeat, the boy needs the love of his mother to develop his inner nature — his "anima" - and the girl needs the love of her father to arouse and to feed within her the masculine components of her total personality, and thus to allow her power of imagination to grow.
If the father is absent, remote, or too busy to care, the young girl's psychic life fails to be aroused normally. Her father's example gives no food to her latent imagination; nothing radiates from his body, his intellectual activity, his mere presence, to stimulate the latent masculine components of her total personality. This inevitably has a profound, lasting effect on the girl. Unconsciously, she feels frustrated, inwardly empty — and unconsciously she will seek a "substitute father." It may be another man, a teacher perhaps, or a heroic figure in the movies or in real life, but something characteristic of the man's world of systematized, logical, authoritarian thinking may become, partially at least, a "substitute father." The Bible, as "The Book" directly revealed by God the Father, or modern science — whose laws are presented as immutable, true, and utterly reliable — or even a political dogma; all these can be more or less artificial stimulants to arouse the psychic masculinity of the girl if she lacks a true, effectual father.
Such a girl develops a characteristic type of mentality, so frequent among American women, because most American fathers seem unable to act positively and significantly as fathers- - as even our most well-known comics can testify! It is the animus type of mind which manifests itself in a scattered superficial avidity to learn all sorts of things, and in the frantic search for a spiritual guide or Hindu guru ( Jupiter!) — indeed, for a variety of such pseudo-father figures which rarely can adequately fill the psychic emptiness left in the woman as the result of an unsatisfactory relationship with her father in childhood. (It may be "unsatisfactory" also because the girl is emotionally attached to her father and thus sees him unconsciously as a potential lover, yet cannot consciously admit this to be true; thus the father-relationship becomes twisted by emotional conflicts, fear or guilt, and it does not fulfill its real psychological function).
The boy, without an adequate mother-relationship, may in a similar fashion pass his life searching for some ideal mother, or find a more or less ineffectual or even tragic substitute in his allegiance to a Church or a political Party which enfolds him psychically like an ideological womb. He may feel psychically empty and forever lonely — and he may try to fill the poignant void within with over-vivid, perhaps unhealthy, dreams of the "mystic woman" or the "Muse" who, if only he were to meet her and become one with her — he believes — would complete him, or even save him from some fancied sin or guilt. He may thus attract to himself the type of woman who, by her temperament, is apt to become a convenient screen upon which the psychically undeveloped man projects his great woman-dream — not realizing, in most cases, that the woman he pictures in his dream (and who may even seem to speak to him "inspirationally") is actually the very image of his own inner feminine potential which somehow has remained incomplete or almost totally ineffectual in his life.
In most of these cases of psychological frustrations (which indeed are very frequent, yet may manifest in many and varied ways) the natal Jupiter is affected. The planet or planets with which it has a discordant relationship (opposition, square, semi-square and some conjunctions) should indicate the basic cause of the frustration. But, Jupiter is not to be considered alone, for what Saturn represents in life also plays an important part in molding the personality. Jupiter and Saturn can never be separated from each other. Just as Jupiter refers to the relationship between the child and the parent of the opposite sex, so Saturn refers to the relationship between the child and the parent of the same sex.

Psychological Meaning of Saturn
Saturn represents all that stabilizes, defines and makes secure the character and the extent of an individual's activity in society. Saturn also, in a psychological type of astrology, represents the ego. The ego is nothing mysterious; it is the shape which the consciousness of the child assumes as this child relates himself to the multitude of factors which constitute his outer life; that is, his life in relation to all that affects his body and his activity among other children — or even adults — whom he considers more or less as basically his equals (this is a very important point, psychologically speaking, in view of the recent change in the character of the family relationship).
The "outer life" is a conscious life; whereas the interior psychic life of which I spoke above is largely, often entirely unconscious. In the outer life one basic drive operates: the drive for security. Thus Saturn has been linked by modern astrologers with the desire for security. Spurred by this desire, the ego tries to build the kind of personality which will achieve recognition and some degree of prestige in the community and "community" means, for the child, his siblings and comrades, and later on perhaps his neighborhood, his group. The ego seeks by all possible means to achieve a permanent statuswithin his "group"; nay more, a guaranteed position. The ego wants the group to guarantee him implicitly — if not verbally or in writing — that other members of the group will not encroach on what he considers his own self and his possessions.
Such a guarantee begins when the baby hears himself called by a definite "name" — Peter or Jane. He is Peter or Jane. No one must dispute this fact. Later on, no one must use his signature on a check, or his Social Security card, or any of the socially recognized symbols which certify that he is and he alone is what he regards himself to be. If, however, this guaranteed recognition of his name, place and position among the other persons constituting his group, community or nation is seriously attacked and undermined — or seems to him to be undermined — the child or adolescent (and later on, the adult individual or the nation as a whole) feels insecure. Anxiety and fear develop and the very structure of his conscious being becomes loose. He may even be uncertain of his own identity — and his own character — which is what happens in extreme form in a concentration camp during "brain washing" or torture...........
.........Here, of course, one must consider also the position of and the aspects made by the Moon in the birth-chart, for Saturn and the Moon constitute a pair, just as Jupiter and Mercury do. Saturn and Jupiter are the positive factors; the Moon and Mercury deal with the management of the forces released, respectively, by Saturn and Jupiter. The Moon, as the capacity for adaptation to the challenges of everyday living, works out and substantiates what Saturn sets in motion. Mercury, as the power of memory and of association of ideas, provides the mental substance and energy necessary to utilize the basic sense of inter-human, inter-personal and social relatedness which Jupiter represents.
The wholesome and balanced development of personality requires a harmonious combination of the Saturn function and the Jupiter function. The Saturnian need for security should be integrated with the Jupiterian need for a deep psychic sharing with those human beings who, because they are outwardly different from us, help us develop the latent capacities of our nature.
The Jupiterian need arises in a purely unconscious manner when the baby's consciousness begins to grasp the outer world, and thus to experience "differentiated" and ego-centric responses to outer events causing pleasure or pain. As this happens the body gradually imposes more and more upon the psychic behavior patterns and responses which are unconsciously conditioned by the child's sex. This reacts upon the counter-sexual elements in the psyche which would otherwise retire to even more interior levels of subconsciousness if they did not find stimulation in, and could not "imitate", similar elements which the physical presence and magnetic emanations of the parent of the opposite sex reveal objectively.
When either this outer drive for security, or this arousal of the imagination in the inner psychic nature is frustrated, confused or perverted, serious psychological harm is done. The growing personality either reacts to this harm by developing aggressiveness, bitterness and emotional twists or perversions; or else it more or less collapses, resentful, insecure and psychically empty or filled with unhealthy imaginings. When harsh, relentless pressures or fears impress themselves sharply upon the collective mentality of a nation — when insecurity and despair are transmitted from one generation to the next in a widespread contagion of unrelatedness — when the "images" produced by restless, twisted ghost-haunted minds fill the intellectual atmosphere of an entire culture, then a wholesale perversion of social and spiritual values is inevitable. Then, even the so-called "benefic" aspects of Jupiter and Saturn fail to stop the race toward the abyss — unless greater powers intervene.
They may intervene. The impact of the constructive phases in the cycles of larger planets — for instance, and above all today, the very long-lasting sextile aspect of Neptune and Pluto — may lift up and repolarize the collapsing energies of the smaller cycles. It may give a new impulse to the Jupiter and Saturn functions at the psychological and social levels. The relationship of parents to children may acquire a new meaning, as the old taboos of obsolete morality and parental authoritarianism fade away. A new type of family may emerge in a transformed society. Children once more may feel secure with a new, more mature security, and the images they build in their inner life may radiate new spiritual health and true creative fantasy. They will radiate these spiritual blessings more richly than in past eras to the degree to which the experience of the tragic decades which humanity has known have been transmuted to release, in clear consciousness, a harvest of significance and of compassion.

Planets and their action 4
Meaning of the keywordsThis section is about the meaning of the keywords for the planets, and this is different from dealing with the meaning of the planets. Here we expand on the meanings of the keywords. If you are using different keywords, then you might choose to follow these pages in principle.Whatever you do, ensure that you really know the meanings of the keywords and use a dictionary often to get the definitions in your mind. The Sun (to integrate)The Central Planet
The sun is closely related to the heart or centre of things. This leads us to the "royal" aspect of the sun. The sun represents, therefore, power. The sun is also related tovitality, and therefore health. All of these meanings can be traced back to the keyword "integrate". The position of the sun in a chart shows how the person integrates themselves and consequently their world. The Sun indicates what we ought to do to attain our life-purpose. The sun rules Leo. The sun is also associated with the "Will". When we have integrated the supportive and disruptive elements of our personality, then we have a strong "Will". The Moon (to react to)The Planet Of Needs And Feelings
Reflecting also symbolises the idea of acting in response to something else, rather than by being the cause ourselves. This gives us the clue that the moon is concerned with our inbuilt responses to things, and suggests the importance of our past experience and habitsand learning in how we do things. How we react depends on our past learning and on our past experiences. We react without thinking, and we do what we have been trained to do, either through education or through traumatic experiences. The type of learning associated with the moon is unconscious and refers to early learning and upbringing over which we had little choice or awareness. Basic and instinctive responses are related to survival and thus to our needs. The Moon is concerned with memory, imagination and dreams. The Moon tends to give a good memory, and imaginative ability. It also brings regular dreams, and dreams such as longings and sentimental desires. While Uranus may be concerned with intellectual dreams of a better more humanitarian future, the Moon's dreams are more emotionally based. The Moon rules Cancer. The moon is also associated with security, because our automatic reactions are often related to survival and hence security. The House and Sign where the Moon is found is where we feel most comfortable, and indicates what we do to feel good, or what we do habitually ... what we need to do. Contrasted with the sun, which indicates what we should do to attain our life purpose, and with Saturn which indicates what we must do. The Moon is feminine and governs growth and decay, as it governs the ebbing and flowing of the tides. And as it shows in its waxing and waning and in its periodic action. The moons natural sign is Cancer, and its natural house is the fourth. Its keyword "react to" implies change, and change in relation to other events. Mercury (to communicate)The Planet Of Mind
Mercury rules Gemini and Virgo. The keyword for Mercury is "communicate". We often communicate using language, and we use words to communicate. Language implies reason and reasoning, because to be rational we need to reason. Mercury is concerned with transport and journeys (types of communication), particularly short journeys. It is also associated with mentality and intellect. Mercury seeks to understand (know) by inquiry: questioning and analysing (It is, after all, the ruler of Virgo!) Mercury is also related to the nervous system, because the nerves are the communication system of the body. It is therefore associated with co-ordination, both physically and mentally. Venus (to harmonise)The Planet Of Pleasure And Luxury
Venus rules Taurus and Libra. The keyword for Venus is "harmonise". Venus is concerned with attraction andrepulsion, beauty, pleasure, comfort and luxury. Beauty is often synonymous with harmony, while ugliness is associated with disharmony. When we are in harmony with someone, we are attracted to them, we like them (or love them). Harmony also suggestsbalance. Venus indicates where we get our pleasures. The keyword "to like" is worthy of closer examination. When "we like" someone or something, it means we have good feelings about them, and we are attracted by them. When we are like someone or something, it means we similar in some respects. The keyword to like is meant to imply both pleasure and relating; that is liking things (pleasure) and noticing how one thing is like another (similarity). This includes the idea of joining together or uniting with someone or something. Venus is creative in the sense that it brings forth beauty. It also, like the Sun, expresses itself (seeking admiration) or impresses. Venus is the goddess of love, and people under Venus are often magnetic and extremely attractive, sometimes in the physical sense and sometimes in the mental sense. Wealth, love, comfort and pleasure - are associated with Venus. What we are attracted to, or what we consider beautiful is usually what we value. If Mars is the God of War then Venus is the Goddess of Peace, or at least of Non-War. Venus will tend to harmonise people and fight against injustice. Whilst Uranus might seek to make all people brothers and sisters, Venus is more limited in her peace making. When Venus seeks to unite, she seeks to unite interpersonally; she doesn't seek to unite the whole world. Mars (to assert)The Planet Of Physical Energy. The Planet Of Action
Mars rules Aries and, traditionally, Scorpio. Mars is the god of war. He is the assertive military man who acts rather than thinks. The keyword for Mars is "assert", which means to act boldly or forcefully. Mars is the planet of energy and it is sometimes referred to as aggressive. In some cases, Mars can be aggressive in the physical sense, but the force is also related to active and assertivethinking, feeling and acting. Acting before thinking or feeling or considering what is expedient. While Venus seeks to unite, Mars seeks to divide or separate. The sign Mars is in shows us how we are active. Jupiter (to expand)The Planet Of Expansion
Jupiter rules Sagittarius and, traditionally, Pisces. The Jupiter force has the keyword "expand", and this force expands the mind, body and the environment. Jupiter was king of the gods, and all the others had to obey him. Another name is Jove, which suggests jovial, a quality produced by the planetary force Jupiter. When we wish to expand our minds, we seek higher education and may travel to distant places, to learn more, to expand our experiences and seek the truth. We would study philosophy. Jupiter is therefore concerned with the big picture, or withgeneralisation and abstraction. We tend to think we can expand when we feel safeand secure, and we are optimistic about the future. If we are optimistic, we might tend to invest in stocks and shares and even gamble, because we feel lucky. Saturn (to control)Planet of Time, Discipline, Responsibilities and Hard Work
The keyword for Saturn is control. It means the tendency to limit, discipline and give responsibility. The young person, as he or she grows older has to take on responsibilities and give up his or her youthful ways. Saturn can reject and expel. Saturn is referred to by old astrologers as a malefic, a planet that brings ill fortune. This is neither right nor wrong. Saturn does indicate areas where we have been deprived, and where our deepest fears lie. It is a sad fact that what we most want or need, is what we cannot accept or what we fearfully reject. It therefore indicates what we must do in order to avoid problems. Saturn's Greek name is Cronos (Kronos), Old Father Time. Saturn ruled the world until he was overthrown by his son, Zeus, (Jupiter). His time had come and he had run out of time. Saturn particularly rules our subjective time. Saturn rules Capricorn. Because Saturn expresses control, it can also mean holding back or delay. It can produce a shortage of time, or too much time. Jupiter, the Greek god, expanded out of the control of Saturn and became the ruler of the Olympians. Chiron (to bring out the fullest potential)The Wounded Healer (The Great Teacher)
Chiron is not a planet, but an asteroid or a comet. It was discovered on 1 November, 1977 by Charles Kowel. In the symbol, we see the circle of spirit is below the cross of matter, indicating that the spirit can transform ideas, etc into practical workable form (like Saturn). The symbol is asymmetrical: the right hand can be thought of as half of an "X", with the left hand bit missing. The cross of matter isn't whole, and it lacks the other half, or opposite part. The circle of spirit is a bit squashed so it is somewhat unconventional. Chiron orbits between Saturn and Uranus, crossing the orbit of Saturn regularly, and that of Uranus occasionally, and its symbol seems to contain part of the essence of each of these. Saturn brings about an awareness of problems and Uranus brings insight for their solution. Chiron was an immortal centaur, half man, half horse. Unlike the other centaurs, who were unintelligent and brutish, Chiron was intelligent and kind. He taught many Greek heroes the arts of music, war, poetry, surgery, astrology, healing, etc. He had the gift of guiding his pupils to uncover their highest potential and to discover their destiny. Chiron's pupils were the heros, who gained famed, yet Chiron was always a support-character, and never great himself. He epitomised the saying, "It is a poor teacher who is not excelled by their students". Essentially, Chiron was a great teacher who brought out the the fullest potential in his students, so they greatly excelled him in ability. One day he suffered a poisonous wound. Because he was immortal, he could not die and lived in terrible pain and suffering. He did a deal with the gods, offering his life (and freedom from pain) for the release of Prometheus, who was imprisoned by the gods for giving man the gift of fire, and therefore betraying their secrets. Chiron was immortalised by the gods in the constellation Sagittarius. . The suggested keyphrases are "to bring out the fullest potential", and "to heal holistically". Heal is used generally here to refer not only to healing bodies, or even healing minds, but also to such things as healing lives, groups, societies, environments, etc. The kind of healing which Chiron does is shamanistic. That is, the shaman goes to the depths of the underworld to reclaim the lost soul, or healing is done through re-experiencing the pain and bringing the whole together in holistic healing. Another way of saying this is to heal through bringing into conscious awareness (that is uniting the unconscious problem with the conscious mind). The glyph for Chiron has half of its cross of matter missing, symbolising the broken state which is healed through finding and re-uniting the missing part. The keyphrase, "to bring out the fullest potential " is similar to healing holistically, in that we seek our fullest potential through finding that which is lost and uniting it with its other half. Another way of saying this is that Chiron could help his students find what was needed, or what was missing in order to attain greatness. Chiron is essential concerned with problems. Problems are largely dilemmas. In other words, a problem is one thing opposing another. For instance, you want to care for your family. You could do with more money. It seems the only way to get more money is to work all hours. If you work all hours, then you won't be with your family very much, which means less caring by being with them. therefore the problem: wanting to care for the family by providing more things, but by doing so you are with them less. Chiron sometimes does this through exposing, or revealing something hidden so it can be dealt with (sometimes bringing about some generally small pain and suffering on the way to resolution). What is revealed is sometimes an evil in society which is shown so it can be inspected and handled. Chiron differs from Uranus in that Chiron isn't a rebel as such, but a maverick. That is, someone who goes his own way independently, not rebelling against something because it is conventional, as Uranus does, nor being slavishly conventional, like Saturn. Chiron. like Saturn, is said to control subjective time. Uranus (to deviate)The Planet Of Revolution
The symbol for Uranus, , appears to be two crescents pointing in opposite directions. The cross of matter is equal with the higher spirit. The cross and the lower circle are the symbol for Venus inverted. The two semicircle-circles could be a split circle, or spirit. Originally, it was just an "H", for Sir William Herschel, who discovered it on 13 March, 1781. Uranus rules, or is the co-ruler of Aquarius (with Saturn). It is the first of the modern planets to be discovered. It is considered a higher octave of Mercury. The keyword for Uranus is "deviate". This can sometimes mean drastic change from one thing to another. In another way, it can mean originality and invention. Uranus is called the Planet Of Revolution, and its purpose is to bring about freedom, independence and remove restraints. Uranus can awaken us from our mental slumbers and liberate us. Uranus governs electricity and astrology, Uranus was the sky-god whose wife was Gaea, the Earth. He was eventually killed by his son, Cronos (or Saturn). Neptune (to refine)The Planet Of Transcendence
Traditionally, the glyph is Neptune's trident, . The crescent of spirit is above the cross of matter. Neptune was discovered in 1846 as a result of the computations of the French astronomer, Urbain Leverrier. It is considered a higher octave of Venus. Neptune has the keyword "refine". By refining, we raise something to a higher degree and this can mean idealism or illusion. Neptune is a force that transcends the physical world, and is associated with religion and belief. In Greek mythology, Neptune was the god of the sea. When our minds turn to the refined and unworldly, we can sometimes bedeceived. We move into the unreal and the unprovable. Neptune rules film, where flickering lights create the illusion of reality. It also rules conjuring and similar arts of deception and mystery. Neptune is also concerned with the glorious sacrifice: giving up the self for the sake of religion or ideology (capitulation). This can mean the same as non-resistance, as in judo and similar martial arts from the East. The Greek God, Neputune, was god of the oceans. He was also a shape-shifter: he could change his own form and that of others. Neptune is also associated with dodging and weaving, escaping from traps and being hard to catch. It is hard to pin a Neptune person down because barriers dissolve or do not exist, and non-resistance causes strong force to dissipate Neptune can dissolve anything, and the self can be dissolved into the infinite. Also Neptune can dissolve barriers, so far more can be achieved in an area than any rational person might expect to be possible. Neptune dissolves problems, barriers, conventions, impossibilities, etc.. Neptune is associated with alcohol and drugs. Neptune rules, or is the co-ruler (with Jupiter) of Pisces. Neptune is also associated with nebulousness, illumination and impressionability. Pluto (to transform)The Planet Of Transformation
The normal symbol for Pluto is . This one,. is the initials of Pluto's discover, Percival Lowell, who discovered it in 1930. The glyph for Pluto, , shows the circle of the spirit (the sun) within and above the crescent of receptivity, which is above the cross of matter. It is considered a higher octave of Mars. The keyword for Pluto is "transformation". Pluto was the god of the underworld, ruling over the dead. While the god, Pluto, was not a god of death, which was determined by the Fates, he was concerned with the transition from life to death. The planet Pluto, however is associated with death, mainly as a transformation from life, in one form, to death, or rebirth, in another form. Life and death can be considered a transformation from one state to the other. "Life and death" should be taken as an allusion to a process whereby something is completely destroyed and is transformed into something new and usually better. This is made clearer by another keyword for Pluto, to regenerate, that is, create anew, in a better way. This can mean changing from being an unethical person to an ethical person, as in spiritual regeneration. Pluto the planet is associated with hidden and secret things, often deeply buried, perhaps in the mind. It is associated with psychoanalysis and similar deep therapies. It is also associated with atomic energy, which often involves the transformation of one element to another, with the release of vast amounts of energy. Pluto, like the atom, tightly holds onto its secret energy, but when it is released, it occurs suddenly, unexpectedly and powerfully. Not surprisingly, Pluto is associated with sex and the orgasm. The sudden explosion of energy naturally associates Pluto with aggression, passion and conflict. To understand the secret matters which Pluto is concerned with, we need to remember that, for instance, much of science deals with uncovering secrets of nature. As Pluto is associated with life and death, some of these secrets refer to understanding how to create life and transmute events in the biological cell. It is also concerned with life prolongation (death). Of course, Pluto's secrets are also secrets of the mind. Areas where we might have hidden shame or guilt, the skeleton in the cupboard. But really these are areas that wecannot own or have because they are considered bad or they are considered too good. We hide both the saint and the sinner within us. When Pluto digs up any of these, it causes serious conscious conflict, and the good may horrify us more than the bad! The personal secrets also include areas of possibility and potential that we dare not even dream about (except symbolically). Normally, such areas are only made manifest when we are ready to receive them and to transform. Pluto also gives us this ability. In a natal chart Pluto indicates how a person will cut through the veneer and get down to life or death, sex and survival matters. The expression, "cut the crap" is Plutonic because Pluto is concerned with elimination and cutting through to the cause or basis. Pluto is considered by astrologers to be neither good nor bad. For instance, where the keyword "annihilation" is used, it is probably only half the truth. Pluto does destroy the old, but it does so to create the new, and the better new (regenerate). Some more keywords related to Pluto are: elimination, purification, exposure, intensity and extremes. Pluto rules over the basic conflict between spiritual development and worldly living. While Uranus will change the old into the new, Pluto will destroy the old to make room for the new. Pluto is the ruler, or co-ruler (with Mars), of Scorpio. Moon's North NodeThe Moon's North Node indicates the direction, area and manner in which the being seeks his or her destiny.Moon's South NodeIndicates the resources and gifts the being brought into this world, which could be used to achieve his or her destiny.Part of FortuneIndicates those areas where things will come very easily; where the Being is lucky.Time Spent By The Planets In Each SignJupiter and the more distant planets spend so much time in one sign, that the meaning of the planet in the sign for the individual becomes less a distinctive mark of their existence than a distinctive mark of those born during that period. While these planets do have a personal meaning in terms of the Houses, Pluto in Scorpio, for instance does not have a unique personal meaning for those with this placement in their natal charts. |
